上海・浦東(Pudong)国際空港は市街地から遠く、しかも戻る際にも客を乗せられるためタクシードライバーにとっては絶好の行き先だ。
フライトまでは十分な時間があったもがスーツケースを引いて地下鉄駅(世紀公園)まで行くのも大変なので磁浮(Maglev)の龍陽路(Longyang road)駅までタクシーに乗ることにした。
ホテル前は東方路(Dongfang Lu)と言う大通りでタクシーは頻繁に往来している。ましてスーツケースを持っていれば空港に行くと思ってタクシーは直ぐにつかまる。
案の定、タクシーは直ぐに停まった。龍陽路までと行き先を告げると明らかに落胆した様子で、空港まで行けと言う。
タクシーに行き先を指示されたのは初めての経験だが、めげずに龍陽路で降りたのだった。
Taxi situation in Shanghai 4, September 24th, 2022
Shanghai Pudong International Airport is a great destination for taxi drivers because it is far from the city center and can pick up passengers on the way back.
I had plenty of time before my flight, but it was difficult to bring my suitcase and go to the subway station (Century Park),
so I decided to take a taxi to Longyang road station of Maglev.
In front of the hotel is the main road called Dongfang Lu, where taxis come and go frequently.
If a person stands on roadside with a suitcase, he or she can easily get a taxi thinking that the passenger is going to the airport.
Sure enough, the taxi stopped immediately. When I told the driver that I was going to Longyang Road,
he looked visibly disappointed and told me to go to the airport. It was the first time I had been told where to go by taxi,
but I got off at Yongyang Road without hesitation.
