2022年8月7日 上海のホテル2・歴史あるホテルは出張には向かない
上海では有名な和平飯店(Fairmont Peace Hotel)に宿泊したことがある。
外灘(Waitan・Bund)と呼ばれる黄河沿岸の観光エリアに建つ築80年以上の歴史的な建造物でもあるホテルだ。
内部は木を基調にした重厚な作りで、第二次世界大戦前から社交界の舞台、また歴史を動かした舞台でもあった上海の老舗ホテルだ。
一方、それ程高価な部屋ではなかったので普通の作りで可もなく不可もないのだが、通信環境が致命的に遅かった。
日本に文書を送ったのだが1晩かけても終わらず、朝までに完了していなかった。
多分、xDSLや光のような接続設備を持たず電話線を使った低速接続をホテル全体で共有しているだけなのだろう。
歴史的なホテルもビジネスで使うのは考えものだ。

I have stayed at the famous Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai once.
The hotel was a historic building built more than 80 years ago in the tourist area of the Yellow River (Hoanghue) coast called the Bund (Waitan Bund).
It was a long-established hotel in Shanghai that has been a stage for social circles since before World War II,
and a stage that moved history.
On the other hand, the room wasn't that expensive, so it was a normal build, but the communication environment was fatally slow.
I sent a letter to Japan, but it didn't finish overnight, and it wasn't finished by morning.
Maybe they didn't have a connection like xDSL or Hikari, they just share a slow phone line connection throughout the hotel.
It wasn’t good idea to use a historic hotel for business.
