2022年7月2日 香りと記憶8 ホテルの香り3
不思議なのだがホテルの香りと記憶が結びついていることが多いことに気付いた。
それも客室やロビー、エレベーターだけでなくホテルのドアを出た時や駐車場に向かう際にふと感じた匂いがホテルと結びついて記憶に残っている。
理由は良く分からないが、ホテルに居ること自体が非日常であり、特に海外では日々様々な出来事に遭遇しており、
その緊張感やプレッシャー或いは達成感が記憶となって残り、これに滞在中のホテルの香りが結びついたのではないか、と推測している。
決して良い思い出ばかりではないが、時間が経ってみると懐かしい感じと共に幸せを感じることが多いのは、
当時は大変ではあったものの幸福な思い出となっているからであろう。
Scent and memory 8: Hotel scent 3, July 2nd, 2022
It's strange, but I noticed that the scent of the hotel is often associated with memories.
I remember not only the rooms, the lobby, and the elevator,
but also the smell that I suddenly felt when I left the door of the hotel and when I was heading to the parking lot,
which was associated with the hotel. I don't really know why, but being in a hotel itself was unusual,
especially when I was abroad, I encountered various events every day, and the tension,
pressure, and sense of accomplishment that I experienced remained in my memory.
These memories may have been associated with the scent of the hotel, I wonder.
It's not all good memories, but over time, I often feel nostalgic and happy because,
although it was hard at the time, it's a happy memory.
