2022年6月11日 香りと記憶3 炭火の香りとフィリピン
何故か炭火焼きの香りがするとフィリピンを想起させる。多分、道路脇のストリートフードの屋台が炭火で調理していたからであろう。
屋台と言っても屋根がある訳でも無く、デーブル1つのみである。子供達のおやつなのであろう、串揚げのようなものを売っていた。
その売り子がまた子供なのが驚いたが。
フィリピンでは連日、車で出歩いていたので、途中の屋台で休憩することが多かった。良く食べたのが「ハロハロ」で、フィリピン版カキ氷と言ったところか。
砕いた氷にタピオカ様のものや豆を混ぜコンデンスミルクやシロップで甘く仕上げるのだが、コトの他暑いフィリピンでは、車での移動の途中、
道路脇で暫しの涼を楽しんだものだった。

For some reason, the smell of charcoal grilling reminds me of the Philippines.
Probably because the street food stalls on the side of the road were cooking over charcoal.
Even though it's called a stall, it doesn't have a roof, just one table.
They were selling something like deep-fried skewers, which would be snacks for children.
I was surprised again that the seller was a child.
In the Philippines, I had to go out by car every day, so I often stopped at food stalls along the way.
I often ate "halo-halo", which is the Philippine version of shaved ice.
It's made by mixing crushed ice with tapioca-like things and beans, and adding condensed milk and syrup to make it sweeter.
I enjoyed “halo-halo” and time to cooling off for a while by the side of the road while driving.
