2022年5月24日 賽銭のように投げ入れる高速料金は良く外れる
米国の高速道路の料金は渡すのではなく「投げ入れる」形式のものがある。料金徴収ブースに人はいるのだが、漏斗のようなものに投げ入れるのだ。
その漏斗までの距離が結構あって、バスケットボールのシュートみたいな感じだ。右手なら外れることが少ないだろうが、アメリカの場合、
左ハンドルなので左手で投げ入れることとなりよく外れる。
よく行っていた米国の拠点付近にもジョージ・W・ブッシュハイウェイがあって毎朝、25セント硬貨を投げ入れるのだが、良く外れる。
料金徴収所の係員は「拾っておくよ」と言って通してくれるのだが、だいたい3回に1回は外していただろうか。
右利きのドライバーには少々酷な料金徴収の方法である。

Some US highway tolls are "thrown in" rather than handed over.
There are people in the toll collection booth, but the coins are thrown into a kind of funnel.
The distance to the funnel is quite long, and it feels like a basketball shoot.
If you use your right hand, it will rarely come off, but in the case of United States,
it is left-hand drive, so you have to throw it with your left hand, and it often comes off.
There was also the George W. Bush Highway near my base office in the United States, where I used to go often.
The toll collector said, "I'll pick it up," and let me through, but I wonder if I used to fail about once every three times.
A bit harsh toll collection for right-handed drivers.
