2022年3月22日 乗り継ぎ(トランジット)で乗り損ね寸前
フィリピンのマニラからオーストラリアのメルボルンまで行くことになったが、直行便はない。
仕方なく香港とシドニーで乗り継いで行くことにし夕方便で香港へ向かった。
当時の香港は中心部の啓徳空港で古くて雑然としていたが混雑していた。同じ便にオーストラリア人の同僚も乗っており、
彼の特権でキャセイのラウンジが使えて乗り換え時間はゆったり過ごせた。
しかしゆったり過ごしたせいで昼間の疲れからラウンジで寝てしまい、気が付くと出発20分前。
慌ててゲートに急いだが広い啓徳空港のゲートは遠く、我々2人だけの搭乗用バスに乗ったのは出発5分前、搭乗直後に扉が閉まった。
乗客は少なく座席3つ占有してシドニーに向かった。
On the verge of failing to get on at a transit, March 22nd, 2022
I have decided to go from Manila in the Philippines to Melbourne in Australia,
but there was no direct flight.
I had no choice but to transfer between Hong Kong and Sydney and headed to Hong Kong by evening flight.
Hong Kong at that time was old and cluttered at Kai Tak Airport in the center of the city,
and it was crowded always. An Australian colleague was also on the same flight,
and with his privileges we were able to use the Cathay Pacific lounge and spend a relaxing transfer time.
However, I fell asleep in the lounge because I was tired by the work on that day, and when I noticed,
it was 20 minutes before departure. I hurried to the gate, but Kai Tak Airport was large and the gate was far away,
and we boarded the boarding bus for only two people 5 minutes before departure, and the door closed immediately after boarding.
Fortunately, passengers were few so that we could use 3 seats for each, and we could take sound sleep on the over-night flight,
and we headed for Sydney.
