2022年2月17日 海外から見た日本食
かつてフィリピン出張では、ほぼ定宿に宿泊していた。かなりの高額なのだが、当時のフィリピンは安全とは言い難く、安全確保の処置だった。
5つ星ホテルで朝食も充実しており、いつもそこで朝食を取っていた。
ある日、朝食に和食コーナーが登場した。そこには力士のハリボテが飾ってあった。試しに味噌汁を飲んでみると、これがまたやたら塩辛い。
多分、長時間提供されて煮詰まったのだろう。以降、和食は避けていつも通りパンとサラダとフルーツの朝食にした。
同じホテルに宿泊した同僚は、日本人と言えば相撲や力士だと思ってるのか、バカにしてるのか、といたく立腹だったが、
それよりも煮詰まった味噌汁の方が悲しかったスープ好きである。
Japanese food seen from overseas, February 17th, 2022
I used to stay at a fixed camp on a business trip to the Philippines. Although it is quite expensive,
the Philippines at that time was not safe, and it was a measure to ensure safety.
Breakfast was good at the 5-star hotel and I always had breakfast there.
One day, a Japanese food corner appeared for breakfast. Haribote (object made of laminated paper),
a sumo wrestler, was displayed there. When I tried drinking miso soup, it was too salty.
Perhaps it was served for a long time and boiled down. After that, I avoided Japanese food and had bread,
salad and fruit breakfast as usual.
A colleague who stayed at the same hotel got angry to think that sumo wrestlers represented the Japanese,
or they disrespected Japanese, but the soup lover (it’s me!!) was saddened by the boiled miso soup.
