プデチゲと言う韓国料理がある。漢字で書くと「部隊チゲ」なのだが、これも軍隊料理の1つらしい。キムチ鍋のようなキムチ入りの辛い鍋料理なのだが、
具材が缶詰や乾麺、真空パックのような日持ちのするものばかり、と言うところが軍隊式なのであろう。
具材に特に決まりはないようだが、スパムや魚肉ソーセージ、ハム等が入っている。欠かせないのが袋入り麺で、いつもこの麺を追加する。
一見すると豚キムチラーメンのようでもあるが、様々な具材のうまみが溶け出した鍋のスープがコクと味の深みを加えており美味である。
軍隊ではつらいことが多く、数少ない楽しみが食事であって、軍隊でも作れる鍋がプデチゲなのか、と想像を膨らませている。
Budae jjigae, December 4th, 2021
There is a Korean food called Budae Jjigae. Written in Chinese characters, it is "Military Unit Jjigae (hot pot)",
but it seems to be one of the military dishes. It's a spicy hot pot dish with kimchi like a kimchi hot pot,
but the ingredients are all canned, dried noodles, and long-lasting things like vacuum packed,
which is probably the military style.
There seems to be no particular rule on the ingredients, but it contains spam, fish sausage, ham, etc.
Bagged noodles are indispensable, and I always add these noodles. At first glance, it looks like pork kimchi ramen,
but the soup in a hot pot, in which the flavors of various ingredients have melted, adds richness and depth to the taste and is delicious.
It's often hard in the army, and one of the few things military men enjoy is eating,
and I'm wondering if the pot that the army can make is Budae Jjigae.
